VIDEO: Kevin Garnett reaches 25,000 career points

By Zach Harper | NBA writer

With a fadeaway jumper against Los Angeles Lakers forward Earl Clark in the second quarter, Boston Celtics forward and future Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett became just the 16th player in NBA history to score 25,000 points in a career. It was the patented shoulder shimmy he used for so many years as the primary scorer for the Minnesota Timberwolves before turning over his left shoulder to square up for the jump shot.

Garnett joined Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Moses Malone, Elvin Hayes, Hakeem Olajuwon, Oscar Robertson, Dominique Wilkins, John Havlicek, Alex English, Reggie Miller and Jerry West in the 25,000-point club. With nine points in the first half, KG is now 189 points away from passing West for 15th on the all-time list.

Going deeper into KG's career accomplishments, he's the only player in NBA history to accumulate 25,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, 5,000 assists, 1,500 blocks, and 1,500 steals for a career. Other than Garnett, no player in history has even broken the 25,000-point, 10-rebound, 5,000-assist plateaus in his career.

Garnett also moved into 12th all-time in career games played with his 1,304th career game. Whenever Garnett becomes eligible for the Hall of Fame, he's a lock to be inducted right away. He's been a pioneer in the modern era by bringing back players going straight from high school to the pros before the NBA implemented an age limit in 2006. He's been one of the most versatile players in NBA history, won the MVP in 2004, Defensive Player of the Year in 2008 and has been named to the All-NBA First Team four times and the All Defensive First Team nine times.

He helped lead the Celtics to the NBA championship in the 2007-08 season.

That's a pretty impressive résumé.
