Patriots LT Nate Solder: 'I would love to stay'
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

Patriots left tackle Nate Solder is hoping to stick around despite being in the final season of his rookie contract.

"I would love to stay," he told the Boston Herald. "...Who knows what will happen? My approach with that, too, is just to do the best I can while I'm here."

Solder is set to earn a guaranteed $7.438 million in 2015. The team could work out an extension with him to lessen a cap hit or prevent him from becoming a free agent in March. The Patriots did draft offensive linemen over the weekend, but none play his position.

Patriots' Nate Solder said he played last season after cancer diagnosis
by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com

Patriots offensive tackle Nate Solder said he was shocked when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer last April.

"I knew nothing about it. It was a complete surprise," Solder said. "You Google something like that and it kind of scares you, so I was like, 'I'm not going to freak out about this.' Had I not had a routine physical, I probably wouldn't have checked it, saying, 'Oh, it's just in my head, I'm going to be fine.'

After the diagnosis, Solder underwent surgery to remove the testicle with cancer in it and Solder was cleared to play football in 2014.

"I was completely healthy, I'm a professional athlete. It can happen to anybody," Solder said. "Make sure you get yourself checked out, especially young men, because that's who it's really targeted toward."

Patriots offensive lineman Nate Solder is having his knee examined and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Bills.

Patriots' offensive line in flux
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

The Patriots started two rookies on the offensive line Monday for the first time since 2005. Cameron Fleming started at right guard and Bryan Stork started at center; both were fourth-round picks.

Dan Connolly started the first three games at center before starting at left guard against the Chiefs. The shuffling continued throughout the blowout loss as New England sought to find a combination that could protect Tom Brady. Left tackle Nate Solder was beaten badly on Tamba Hali's strip-sack in the third quarter, then got benched for Marcus Cannon.
