49ers' Colin Kaepernick: Trade not ruled out
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

GM Trent Baalke left open the possibility that Kaepernick (shoulder/knee/thumb) could be traded this week, ESPN.com reports.

"I wouldn't say we are out there looking for it, but I wouldn't rule it out," Baalke noted, as Thursday's NFL Draft approaches. While we wouldn't expect all of the teams with fluid QB situations to engage in a flurry of trades this week, the draft does present a window that favors such movement. With that in mind, another QB who could potentially be on the move is Philadelphia's Sam Bradford. In the meantime, Kaepernick -- who is recovering from shoulder, thumb and knee surgeries this offseason -- is attending the 49ers' voluntary minicamp this week, but he still isn't throwing at this stage.

49ers' Colin Kaepernick: Still bouncing back from injuries
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Kaepernick (shoulder/knee/thumb) expects to need at least one more month before he is deemed football-ready, Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com reports.

On the plus side, Kaepernick has not had any offseason setbacks, and there is nothing to suggest that his recovery period will extend to the point that his training camp participation might be impacted. At this stage, he remains a member of the 49ers, though as csnbayarea.com relays, a potential deal that would send the QB to Denver still remains a possibility, with finances (related to Kaepernick's contract) referenced as an impediment to such a transaction moving forward.

49ers' Colin Kaepernick: Rejects pay cut proposal
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Kaepernick (shoulder/knee/thumb) will not take a pay cut, nor will the 49ers pay off part of his contract to facilitate a trade to the Broncos, Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports.

Kaepernick's $11.9 million base salary represents a sizable obstacle in any potential trade between the 49ers and Broncos, especially with Denver insistent on restructuring the quarterback's contract if they trade for him. With both Kaepernick and the 49ers apparently unwilling to make financial concessions, the player, although still rehabbing from three offseason surgeries, attended the beginning of San Francisco's offseason workouts Monday, and is slated to earn a $400,000 bonus if he participates in 90 percent of the nine-week program. Whether the Broncos can ultimately swing a trade for Kaepernick remains to be seen, but there are obvious hurdles to clear should a deal come to fruition.

49ers' Colin Kaepernick: Expected at 49ers workout
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Kaepernick (shoulder/knee/thumb) is expected to report for the 49ers' offseason workout Monday, The Denver Post reports.

Kaepernick has spent much of this offseason in Colorado rehabbing from his three surgical procedures since November, and also met with Broncos general manager John Elway last week to discuss terms on a potential trade. While any deal would hinge on Kaepernick's contract being restructured, his current deal with the 49ers includes a $400,000 bonus for participating in 90 percent of the team's voluntary nine-week offseason program. For Kaepernick, that would mostly involve further rehab work, which he's traveled to San Francisco to begin when the 49ers reconvene Monday.

49ers' Colin Kaepernick: Potential trade held up by finances
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

While the San Francisco 49ers and Broncos are believed to have the basic parameters in place for a trade that would send Colin Kaepernick (shoulder) to Denver, before such a deal moves forward in any way, the two sides would need to agree on how the quarterback's $11.9 million base salary for 2016 will be taken care of, ESPN.com reports.

Per the report, the Broncos are willing to fork over $7 million of the tab, and in such scenario the 49ers would be then be compelled to pay the remaining $4.9 million of Kaepernick's contract. So far the 49ers have balked at such terms and to date, the QB has yet to express a willingness to tweak his contract in order to facilitate a deal. As for the compensation being discussed, it's believed that the 49ers would receive a mid-round pick from the Broncos if they trade Kaepernick to Denver. In any case, some concessions on the part of the two teams and/or Kaepernick will need to happen before the potential trade moves from a possibility to a probability.
