49ers WR Anquan Boldin to Colin Kaepernick: 'Be yourself'
by Elliott Smith | Staff Writer

49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is in the midst of an offseason evolution of his game, but he has one supporter in wide receiver Anquan Boldin, who said in a radio interview that the signal-caller should not reinvent the wheel, per

"To be honest with you I think he just has to block out everything else around him, stop listening to what people want, what people have to say about you, stop listening to what people want to see you do and just be yourself," Boldin said.

49ers GM on Colin Kaepernick: 'Working his tail off right now'
by R.J. White |

49ers general manager Trent Baalke spoke about quarterback Colin Kaepernick at the NFL Combine Thursday, saying the signal caller is "working his tail off right now," per the team's website.

"He’s down in Arizona," Baalke said. "He’s working hard with [former NFL QB and current NFL Network analyst] Kurt [Warner] and several other people. We’ve had a little bit of communication through this first part of the break. But, I know he’s working awfully hard. He knows what he needs to work on. He’s a very dedicated player and I’m sure he feels good about the progress he’s made up to this point. The only reason you go down there and do the things he’s doing is to get better. That’s the mindset and I think he feels comfortable with where he’s at and hopefully that transfers to the field."

Baalke also addressed the parts of Kaepernick's game on which he's working in Arizona, saying, "I know that what he’s down there working on is just all the technique things that go along with the position; footwork, delivery, changing platforms, throwing platforms, arm angle. He’s working on all of that stuff. And, being able to take a little pace off of the ball when he needs to take some pace off of it."

Kaepernick completed 60.5 percent of his passes in 2014, throwing for 3,369 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while adding 639 yards and one touchdown on the ground.

49ers' new QB coach excited to mentor Colin Kaepernick
by Larry Hartstein |

New 49ers quarterback coach Steve Logan, who has mentored Jeff Blake, David Garrard and Matt Ryan, said he's looking forward to working with Colin Kaepernick.

“If I was going to make a list of what do you want to coach – let’s draw up a guy you want to coach — those first two boxes you check are accuracy and decision-making," Logan told a Raleigh-based radio station last week, per the team's website. "He’s really good with both of those right now."

Logan will be asked to develop Kaepernick's complete game, per the team's website. Kaepernick, 27, accounted for 20 touchdowns and 15 turnovers last season but threw for a career-high 3,369 yards.
