Drew Brees nearly perfect in Monday night victory
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

Saints quarterback Drew Brees continued his strong play on the road this season in Monday's 31-15 win at Chicago. Brees hit 29 of 36 throws, at one point completing 14 straight, for 375 yards and three touchdowns with no turnovers.

Brees extended his NFL-record streak of seasons with 30-plus touchdown passes to seven. He has 31 after throwing a pair to tight end Josh Hill on rollouts and a pretty 9-yarder to wideout Marques Colston.

Brees posted his 46th game with at least 300 passing yards and three touchdown throws, tying Peyton Manning for the all-time NFL lead.

Brees came out on fire, hitting 18 of 20 passes for 226 yards and two scores in the first half. He could have had a bigger night had tight end Jimmy Graham corralled a contested end-zone fade late in the third quarter.

Brees will try to keep rolling Week 16 against Atlanta.

Drew Brees shows he's still no sure thing
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

The most discouraging part about Drew Brees' performance Week 14 against Carolina, when he threw for 235 yards with one touchdown and one interception, is that it came just when he seemed to have figured things out, throwing for three touchdowns or more in three of his previous four games, including five last week at Pittsburgh.

That's the quarterback Fantasy owners were expecting to get when they drafted Brees in the second round, not this one with only one touchdown pass in three of his last six games.

Even with this performance -- which, by the way, could have been much worse considering he had just 64 yards heading into the fourth quarter -- Brees is still the third-best quarterback in standard CBSSports.com leagues since his bye in Week 6, only 14 points behind leader Peyton Manning, but he's lost the consistency that made him so valuable in the past.

Of course, consistency isn't a given with any quarterback these days. Just ask Manning owners about that. Any complaints you may have about Brees and his performance this season are relative to where you drafted him. You would have been thrilled with him as a fourth- or fifth-rounder.

Was it a disappointing performance? Yes, but he's shown in recent weeks he can still carry your team at times. Now isn't the time to rethink your quarterback situation, especially with a favorable matchup ahead Week 15 at Chicago.

Saints QB Drew Brees pads stats after poor performance
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

The final numbers looked OK for Saints quarterback Drew Brees on Sunday. But until garbage time, they were terrible.

Most of the game was garbage time for New Orleans in a drubbing by Carolina. Brees was a horrid 11 of 24 for 64 yards, no touchdowns and one interception after three quarters. He finished a more respectable 29 of 49 for 238 yards and added a 7-yard score to backup tight end in the fourth quarter.

Brees threw an interception on his second pass and it all went downhill from there. He will try to recover on Monday Night Football in Week 15 on the road against Chicago.

Saints' Drew Brees posts season-high five TD game vs. Steelers
by Brandon Wise | CBSSports.com

Saints quarterback Drew Brees posted a clean stat line Sunday against the Steelers, going 19 of 27 for 257 yards and a season-high five touchdown passes with no interceptions. It was Brees' ninth career game with five touchdown passes, tying him with Peyton Manning for the most in NFL history.

Brees completed at least one pass to nine receivers. Two of Brees' touchdowns came in the first half to tight end Benjamin Watson and fullback Erik Lorig. Then, in the second half, Brees found rookie wide receiver Nick Toon for his first career touchdown.

Brees finished off his day with a 69-yard touchdown to Kenny Stills, followed by a 3-yard touchdown to Marques Colston.

Brees will look to stay hot next week at home against Carolina.

Drew Brees posts 11th career 400-yard game
by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com

Saints quarterback Drew Brees completed 35 of 45 throws for 420 yards and three touchdowns with an interception in Monday's loss to the Ravens. It was Brees' 11th career 400-yard game, and it included his third pick-six this season.

Brees was under tremendous pressure by the Ravens, who sacked him four times and hit him at least four other times. He threw a pair of touchdowns to tight end Jimmy Graham and a pretty 26-yard score to wideout Marques Colston.

In the third quarter, a hurried Brees threw behind his receiver and Ravens safety Will Hill intercepted and ran 44 yards for a touchdown. Brees did not fumble, and he scrambled three times for 15 yards.

Brees visits the Steelers in Week 13.
