Bills' Reggie Bush: Spends most of Thursday on bench
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Bush was on the field for just two offensive snaps during Thursday's loss to the Jets. He did not have a carry or a catch.

Perhaps even more surprisingly, both the punt- and kickoff-return duties went to Brandon Tate, who did a good job and looks to be suppressing Bush's role on special teams, which was expected to be significant. The Bills did fire offensive coordinator Greg Roman on Friday, so we'll see if new OC Anthony Lynn decides to get the backups on the field a bit more. As of now, Bush is the No. 3 running back in Buffalo and no longer appears to be the main return man, so his fantasy value is pretty much nothing.

Bills' Reggie Bush: Loses yardage in Buffalo debut
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Bush lost four yards on three carries in Sunday's loss to Baltimore and failed to haul in his lone target.

Bush was bottled up by the Ravens' defense in his first regular season game since tearing his MCL last season. Bush only collected four touches during the preseason, so shaking off some rust should be expected. That said, he's on the wrong side of 30, hasn't tallied more than 325 total yards in a season since 2013 and doesn't seem to offer a skillset varying that of starter LeSean McCoy. He shouldn't be featured in any lineups until his role and effectiveness becomes clearer.

Bills' Reggie Bush: Fails to impress in start
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Bush started Friday's game against Washington, gaining 17 yards on three carries and failing to haul in his only target.

With LeSean McCoy held out due to a coach's decision, Bush essentially got the start by default, as Mike Gillislee (concussion) was unavailable. Head coach Rex Ryan recently referred to Gillislee as the team's No. 2 running back, though Ryan did also make it clear that Bush is in the mix for backup work. Rookie fifth-rounder Jonathan Williams (rib) also has a strong chance to make the team, and regardless of how things shake out, Bush probably won't be given a heavy rushing workload. While Bush should have a role on special teams and in the passing game, he isn't the clear handcuff to McCoy.

Bills' Reggie Bush: Not the No. 2?
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Coach Rex Ryan called Mike Gillislee, who is currently in the league's concussion protocol following Saturday's preseason game, the current top backup behind LeSean McCoy, The Buffalo News reports. Said Ryan of the veteran Bush, "Reggie is just -- like I said, we're going to be smart with him. I mean we don't want to just run his legs off as the No. 2 back. But make no mistake, he's going to play for us and contribute not just as a returner, but on offense as well."

That supports the case we made earlier that Bush will be used in a utility role -- playing on passing downs and certain formations while being the main returner on punts and kickoffs. He should end up getting a lot of action on this team, especially with Karlos Williams now out of the picture, but if you're looking at him as insurance in case McCoy goes down, that isn't really how the Bills see him.

Bills' Reggie Bush: Punt return action continues
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Bush rushed one time for minus-1 yard, didn't catch a pass, and returned three punts for a total of 14 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Giants.

Perhaps the bigger news is the Bills released Karlos Williams earlier Saturday, leaving one less player to compete with for touches behind LeSean McCoy. Bush could be the No. 1 guy for both kickoffs and for punts, but there's also a chance he gets slotted as the No. 2 running back; however, we could also see a situation where Bush becomes the third-down and passing- situation back, with someone else being more of the workhorse should McCoy go down.
