Nelson hauled in six catches (on seven targets) for 101 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's win over the Lions.
Seeing Nelson and quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the same page was a sight to behold. All of the receiver's damage was done in just two first-half drives. Nelson rambled 49 yards on a catch-and-run on the Packers' second drive and capped it off with an eight-yard touchdown. Three drives later, he caught a beautiful teardrop pass down the right sideline for a 17-yard score. Nelson appears to have his ACL injury from a year ago completely behind him, and could be in store for big numbers in the ensuing Packers' homestand. Green Bay will have a bye in Week 4 before having the Giants to town Oct. 9.
Nelson gathered in five of 11 targets for 73 yards and one touchdown in Sunday night's loss at Minnesota.
The communication between Nelson and Aaron Rodgers has yet to settle on a happy medium, as evidenced by a measly 45 percent catch rate in this contest. Granted, Nelson salvaged his evening with a one-yard touchdown for the game's first score, which came on the heels of a defensive holding call on the wideout from Vikings defensive back Terence Newman. On the other side of the coin, Rodgers clearly expected Nelson to be prepared for certain back-shoulder throws, in particular, that instead fell incomplete. With end-zone visits in back-to-back weeks, it's difficult to be disappointed in Nelson's initial outings following an ACL tear, but his 9.5 YPC to date falls well short of his mark of 15.3 YPC prior to the injury.
Nelson caught six of nine targets for 32 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Jaguars.
Nelson averaged a mere 5.3 yards per catch in his return to NFL action for the first time in 2014, but he was able to hook up with Aaron Rodgers on a well-executed eight-yard touchdown. He should improve as he shakes off the rust that accumulated during his long absence and should be a fine fantasy asset once he is fully up to speed. Next week brings with it a matchup versus the Vikings.
After head coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that Nelson wouldn't have any restrictions in Week 1, skepticism abounded, especially following a preseason in which the wide receiver didn't log a single snap. A full practice Wednesday confirms the preceding, but two sessions remain to reaffirm that Nelson will in fact attempt to flash his status as a burner. If he's the same old Nelson, he'll gobble up upwards of 90 percent of the offensive snaps in Sunday's game at Jacksonville.
Head coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that Nelson (knee) won't have any restrictions in Sunday's regular-season opener against Jacksonville, ESPN.com reports. "Jordy's full go," McCarthy said. "And we expect him to line up and be full bore in Jacksonville."
Despite missing the entire preseason and being limited throughout training camp, Nelson is apparently expected to start in Week 1 against a rebuilt Jacksonville defense. He only resumed 11-on-11 work last week, so while head coach Mike McCarthy may be optimistic, it's still quite possible Nelson won't be ready to handle a typical starter's complement of snaps. He played more than 91 percent of Green Bay's offensive snaps in both 2013 and 2014.
