Packers' Jordy Nelson: Nearly shut out of stat sheet in Week 7 win
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nelson caught only one of four targets for nine yards in Thursday's 26-10 win over the Bears.

On a night where the trio of Davante Adams, Randall Cobb and Ty Montgomery saw a combined 44 targets, Nelson was shockingly the forgotten man. His one reception prevented him from being shut out of the stat sheet altogether for the first time since November 4, 2012 in a game versus the Cardinals. Aaron Rodgers was simply able to find the aforementioned receivers on a consistent basis, but given Nelson's track record and rapport with the quarterback, Thursday's overall pass distribution has to be considered an outlier. Nelson will look to bounce back to his customary numbers when the Packers take on the Falcons in what could turn into a Week 8 shootout.

Packers' Jordy Nelson: Snaps touchdown streak in loss to Cowboys
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nelson caught five of seven targets for 68 yards in Sunday's 30-16 loss to the Cowboys.

Nelson tied a season-low in targets as he garnered plenty of attention from an improved Cowboys defense, and he failed to reach the end zone for the first time this season. Nelson still finished second on the team in receiving yards as Aaron Rodgers spread the ball around, but he is averaging just 62.4 yards through five games this season. Nelson has still been targeted a team-high 47 times this season and should be in for a bounce-back performance next week versus the Bears.

Packers' Jordy Nelson: Catches fifth touchdown but otherwise struggles
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nelson caught four passes for 38 yards and a touchdown on a team-high 13 targets in Sunday's 23-16 win over the Giants.

Nelson made a diving touchdown grab on the opening drive, but he later dropped a couple of passes and generally just wasn't sharp. He has still scored in every game this season, tied with Larry Fitzgerald at a league-high five touchdown receptions, even though Green Bay already had its bye week. Nelson has also impressed in terms of target share, accounting for 40 of Aaron Rodgers' 139 pass attempts (28.8 percent). However, there is some cause for concern, as Nelson has only caught 21 of his 40 targets (52.5 percent), also posting a lousy mark in yards per target (6.1), a statistic he has traditionally dominated. Regardless, the heavy volume and red-zone usage make him a highly valuable commodity, even though he doesn't quite look like the same dominant player that he was pre-surgery. The Packers have a Week 6 home date with the Cowboys.

Packers' Jordy Nelson: Records 101 yards and two touchdowns Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nelson hauled in six catches (on seven targets) for 101 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's win over the Lions.

Seeing Nelson and quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the same page was a sight to behold. All of the receiver's damage was done in just two first-half drives. Nelson rambled 49 yards on a catch-and-run on the Packers' second drive and capped it off with an eight-yard touchdown. Three drives later, he caught a beautiful teardrop pass down the right sideline for a 17-yard score. Nelson appears to have his ACL injury from a year ago completely behind him, and could be in store for big numbers in the ensuing Packers' homestand. Green Bay will have a bye in Week 4 before having the Giants to town Oct. 9.

Packers' Jordy Nelson: Gathers in touchdown Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Nelson gathered in five of 11 targets for 73 yards and one touchdown in Sunday night's loss at Minnesota.

The communication between Nelson and Aaron Rodgers has yet to settle on a happy medium, as evidenced by a measly 45 percent catch rate in this contest. Granted, Nelson salvaged his evening with a one-yard touchdown for the game's first score, which came on the heels of a defensive holding call on the wideout from Vikings defensive back Terence Newman. On the other side of the coin, Rodgers clearly expected Nelson to be prepared for certain back-shoulder throws, in particular, that instead fell incomplete. With end-zone visits in back-to-back weeks, it's difficult to be disappointed in Nelson's initial outings following an ACL tear, but his 9.5 YPC to date falls well short of his mark of 15.3 YPC prior to the injury.
