Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams sees little action in Week 4 loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Pittsburgh Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams had two carries for five yards in Thursday's 23-20 overtime loss to the Ravens.

As was the case the previous week, Williams only saw the field to give Le'Veon Bell an occasional rest. Despite his quick start to the season, Williams has been reduced to handcuff value, as Bell plays far more snaps than the average starting running back.

Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams sees limited action in win

Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams rushed once for two yards and failed to get targeted on a pass Sunday against the Rams.

Williams led the AFC in rushing yards over the first two weeks of the season playing in place of the suspended Le'Veon Bell, but with the latter returning Sunday, the former all but disappeared. There was talk before the game that Williams would still get a decent amount of touches, but Bell dominated the backfield, rushing 19 times for 62 yards and a touchdown while also catching seven passes on eight targets for 70 receiving yards. Given the split, it's tough to see Williams making a meaningful fantasy impact while Bell starts ahead of him.

Report: Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams will still get carries
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

While Le'Veon Bell is acting as the Steelers' starting running back Sunday at St. Louis, DeAngelo Williams will have plenty of touches and work with Bell at the same time, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.

In Bell's stead, Williams led the AFC in rushing, racking up 204 yards on the ground, while reaching the end zone three times and hauling in five receptions. His usage will be more muted, of course, but Glazer's tidbit aids the belief that the veteran won't have his reps immediately dry up.

Workload for Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams still unclear for Week 3
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

With starting running back Le'Veon Bell set to return to action this week, Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams' workload moving forward has yet to be established, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

When asked Tuesday about how he planned to use Williams now that Bell is available to the Steelers again, coach Mike Tomlin did not provide anything in the way of specifics in advance of Sunday's game against the Rams.

"We will figure that out as we go. However, if Bell is available, we will use him," Tomlin said.

Given that Bell missed the Steelers' first two regular season games, and Williams performed well in his place, we suspect that Williams will have a chance to sub in for Bell at times this weekend, but his path to fantasy reliability is clearly capped by the return/presence of Bell, who QB Ben Roethlisberger notes 'doesn't like to come out of the game.'

Steelers RB DeAngelo Williams rushes for three scores in win
by Rotowire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams rushed 20 times for 77 yards and three touchdowns, and added 15 yards on four receptions in Sunday's win over the 49ers.

Williams made the most of Le'Veon Bell's season-opening two-game suspension, converting three scores in a blowout win. The Steelers' elite offense provides plenty of scoring opportunities, but Bell is a workhorse running back who will dominate touches as long as he's healthy.

Owners should take a cautious approach with Williams moving forward, as he will cede a vast majority of his carries to Bell starting next week.On the bright side, it's good to know that the veteran is capable of high-level production if asked to fill in for Bell in the future.
