Frustrated DeAngelo Williams questions Panthers' offseason
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer

Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams will stand with his team through thick and thin but admitted to NFL Network on Thursday that he's concerned about their future after letting their top four receivers go this offseason. Williams said he'll miss the leadership of Steve Smith and the entire receiving corps' knowledge of the offense but is fearful for what might happen to the Panthers run game.

"I just don't want to see eight, nine guys in the box week in and week out because we're working on our timing," Williams said.

With Cam Newton on the shelf until training camp and the Panthers fielding a new receiving corps, the clock is ticking on Carolina's offense getting on the same page.

LaCanfora: Panthers could cut DeAngelo Williams
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer

The Panthers could part ways with running back DeAngelo Williams this offseason, reports CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason LaCanfora.

LaCanfora reports that Williams has a cap hit of $6 million, and the Panthers could save $2 million in cap space if they cut Williams. Carolina still has Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert under contract.

Williams had 201 carries for 843 yards and three touchdowns and 26 catches for 333 yards and a touchdown in 2013

Panthers rushers can't get anything going
by Chris Cwik |

The Panthers rushers couldn't get anything going against San Francisco.

Mike Tolbert was the most effective of the bunch, picking up 20 yards on eight carries. Tolbert has been a short-yardage threat all season, but could not convert his chances during the game. DeAngelo Williams was used even less, with just five carries. He finished with 13 yards. Neither played a role in the passing game.

Fumble ruins day for DeAngelo Williams
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer

Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams played well in Week 17 at Atlanta, but a fumble put a damper on his overall production.

Williams had 10 carries for 33 yards and two catches for 75 yards. But on his 56-yard reception, Williams lost a fumble at the end of the run.

The Panthers now have a week off after winning the NFC South and wrapping up the No. 2 seed in the NFC. They will next play in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

DeAngelo Williams ending season on high note
by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer

Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams heads into his Week 17 matchup at Atlanta playing well, and we expect him to end the regular season on a high note.

Since Jonathan Stewart (knee) went down in Week 14 we’ve seen Williams take over. He has 34 Fantasy points in his past two games against the Jets and New Orleans with a touchdown in each game. This is the second year in a row Williams is closing the season strong since he scored at least 11 Fantasy points in three of his final four games in 2012.

Williams struggled against the Falcons in Week 9 with 13 carries for 42 yards and two catches for 12 yards when Stewart was active, but he scored in the three previous meetings with Atlanta. And the Falcons have allowed a running back to score or rush for 90 yards in nine games in a row.

We consider Williams a solid No. 2 Fantasy running back this week. If he continues to play like he has the past two games he will reward Fantasy owners with another solid performance.
