Patriots' Danny Amendola: Injury rehab going well
by RotoWire Staff | Special to

Though Amendola underwent a procedure on his left knee this offseason and also had bone spurs removed from his ankle, ESPN's Mike Reiss relays that he has been informed that the wideout's ailments have been portrayed as "minor" and "not a long-term" concern.

The report also encouragingly notes that Amendola's rehab "has been on a positive track and he's already moving well." While the wideout's on-field activities figure to be limited as training camp approaches, the ESPN report offers an optimistic angle which suggests that Amendola is on pace to be ready for the start of the coming season. In the meantime, with top wideout Julian Edelman bouncing back from foot woes, the likes of Chris Hogan, Nate Washington, Aaron Dobson, Malcolm Mitchell and Devin Lucien should see added reps during the Patriots' upcoming OTAs and minicamps.

Patriots' Danny Amendola: Bouncing back from offseason procedures
by RotoWire Staff | Special to

Amendola (knee/ankle) underwent a pair of procedures early in the offseason that could impact the start of his 2016 campaign, the Boston Herald reports.

At this stage, a timetable for when the wideout might return to full strength has yet to be outlined, though the report suggests there's hope that he might be ready to participate in training camp. One procedure that Amendola underwent addressed a left knee issue, while the other was performed to remove a bone spur in his ankle. Given that he recently restructured his contract with the Patriots, Amendola's roster spot appears secure, but if he's forced to miss any time out of the gate, the likes of Chris Hogan, Nate Washington and rookie Malcolm Mitchell could see added opportunities behind Julian Edelman, who is currently bouncing back from foot woes.

Patriots' Danny Amendola: Restructures deal to stay put
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Danny Amendola has restructured his deal with the New England Patriots , ESPN's Mike Reiss reports. Previous to agreeing to restructure his contract with the team, Amendola was in line to earn a base salary of $5 million and count $6.8 million against the team's salary cap in 2016.

Per the report, Amendola's new deal holds a maximum value of $7.35 million over two years, but more importantly, it allows the receiver to remain with the franchise, as his prior agreement had made him a candidate to be a salary cap cut. By staying put, Amendola, who recorded 65 catches for 648 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games last season, retains a degree of value in PPR formats, though his target volume tends to spike any time the Patriots' top wideout, Julian Edelman, miss action. This coming season, the team's wideout corps will also include free agent additions Chris Hogan and Nate Washington, returnees Keshawn Martin, Aaron Dobson and Chris Harper, as well as promising draftee Malcolm Mitchell. It's a crowded situation to be sure, but given the trust the Patriots' coaching staff and QB Tom Brady have in Amendola, when he's healthy, the 30-year-old should remain a key cog in the team's passing game in 2016.

Patriots' Danny Amendola: May need to re-work contract
by RotoWire Staff | Special to

ESPN's Mike Reiss suggests that Amendola, who is in line to earn a base salary of $5 million and count $6.8 million against the Patriots' salary cap in 2016, will likely need to re-work his deal to be retained by the team.

Amendola, who finished up the 2015 regular season with 65 catches for 648 yards and three TDs in 14 games, can still be a useful player for the Patriots, but it looks like he'll probably need to agree to some sort of contract compromise in order to stick around. The Patriots added fellow wideouts Chris Hogan and Nate Washington in free agency, but when healthy, Amendola gives the team both a complement to and insurance policy for top wideout Julian Edelman, who was limited to nine games this past season.

Patriots' Danny Amendola: Catches five passes Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Danny Amendola was on the field for 55 of the New England Patriots ' 83 offensive snaps in Sunday's 20-18 loss to the Broncos in the AFC title game, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports.

Amendola, who caught five of eight targets for 39 yards in the game, finished up the regular season with 65 catches for 648 yards and three TDs in 14 games. The 30-year-old wideout -- who saw added work in the Patriots' offense this past season thanks to Julian Edelman's injury woes -- is under contract with the team for the next two seasons, but given that his base salary goes up to $5 million in 2016, Amendola's status with the team bears watching this offseason.
