Chiefs' Alex Smith: Completes 86 percent of passes against Raiders
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith completed 19 of 22 passes for 224 yards and lost a yard rushing in Sunday's win over Oakland.

Despite not tossing a touchdown and attempting 11 fewer passes than his previous season low, Smith had his most efficient game of the season from a rating perspective, 109.1. That can be attributed to Smith connecting on 86.4 percent of his passes - including beautiful drops in the bucket of 38 and 26 yards to Jeremy Maclin and Albert Wilson, respectively. Smith has been held touchdownless twice already this season, has just six total touchdowns and has topped 250 yards passing just once in his last four games. Never a go-to fantasy option, Smith's usage should trend downward as Jamaal Charles is eased back into the lineup - creating a formidable rushing attack with Spencer Ware.

Chiefs' Alex Smith: Tosses a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Jets
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith completed 25-of-33 passes for 237 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-3 win over the Jets.

It was another efficient game for Smith, who managed the game beautifully with Kansas City's defense taking over (two touchdowns, six interceptions). He did a great job spreading things around, as nine different players caught at least one pass, although he primarily locked in on Travis Kelce, who finished with six receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown. The veteran quarterback has a decent matchup next week at Pittsburgh, which allowed rookie Carson Wentz to throw for 301 yards and two touchdowns Sunday.

Chiefs' Alex Smith: Comes back down to earth against relentless Texans defense
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Smith completed 20 of 37 passes for 186 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and gained two yards on two rushes in Sunday's 19-12 loss to the Texans. He also took four sacks and fumbled twice, losing both.

The veteran game manager couldn't muster anywhere near the same amount of success that he enjoyed in the Week 1 comeback win against the Chargers, averaging just five yards per attempt. Smith was never comfortable, constantly harassed by a feisty Texans front that pushed the pocket all afternoon long and seemed determined to avenge last January's 30-0 Wild Card Game loss to Kansas City. He lost two fumbles, with the first coming on a high snap that sailed over his head and the second resulting from a strip sack. Smith and the Chiefs will look to quickly put Sunday's disaster behind them when they take on the Jets in Week 3.

Chiefs' Alex Smith: Scores three touchdowns in comeback win
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Smith completed 34 of 48 passes for 363 yards, two touchdowns and a pick in Sunday's win over San Diego. He added 15 yards and a touchdown on four rushes.

Smith showed no signs of missing star running back Jamaal Charles on Sunday, sticking with his trademark "take what the defense gives you approach" by completing 24 of his 34 passes to backs and tight ends. He also showed off some athleticism with a nifty two-yard run to end the game in overtime. Smith is often known as a game-manager, but Sunday's comeback win was arguably the most dynamic Smith has been in years. It marked the first time in his three-plus seasons with the team that he threw for over 300 yards with more than one touchdown pass.

Chiefs' Alex Smith: Plays first half in preseason Week 3
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Smith got plenty of work in Saturday's preseason victory over Chicago, completing 20 of 30 passes for 181 yards and rushing twice for 25 while playing the whole first half.

Kansas City generated 13 points in the first half while moving the ball mostly through the air. Smith showed a solid rapport with top weapons Jeremy Maclin (five catches for 44 yards) and Travis Kelce (three catches for 37 yards), and should be ready to reprise his steady game-manager role for the Chiefs in 2016.
